Expert Panel Addresses National Intelligence Analysis Capabilities
Content Analyst Company Opens Dialogue Between Intelligence Community and Industry

(RESTON, VA) June 27, 2005 – An expert panel of former senior intelligence community leaders convened to examine issues related to the analysis of intelligence data and the future of information sharing that arose from the recent report issued by the Presidential Commission on Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction.  That report was highly critical of the intelligence community’s assessments of Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction capabilities in advance of U.S. military action.

Hosted by Reston, Virginia-based Content Analyst Company, LLC, the panelists for the June 22nd off-the-record discussion included Admiral William Studeman, commissioner of the Presidential Commission on Weapons of Mass Destruction and a former Deputy Director of Central Intelligence (DDCI); Dr. John Gannon, former majority staff director for the House Select Committee on Homeland Security; and James Simon, director of the Microsoft Institute for Advanced Technology in Governments and former Assistant Director of Central Intelligence for Administration.  The discussion was moderated by Frank Cilluffo, director of the George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute and a former special assistant to the President for homeland security.

One of the central issues covered by the panelists was the use of technology to speed and improve the analysis of intelligence data and to enable greater collaboration and information sharing among the various agencies involved in U.S. homeland security.

“It’s impossible to overstate the importance of speed and accuracy in the analysis process,” said Admiral Studeman. “Given the overabundance of data currently being collected in today’s information age, intelligence analysts need to be armed with the proper technology and tools to swiftly reach valid conclusions and share those findings with others as appropriate.”

The panel discussion was followed by a demonstration of Content Analyst technology, a powerful text analytics tool that enables analysts to quickly identify and act on meaningful information buried deep within large repositories of documents and data.

“Key to our national security is continued dialogue on how to improve intelligence analysis,” said Robert Liscouski, Content Analyst chief executive officer and formerly the first Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection at the Department of Homeland Security. “We facilitated that dialogue by putting several of our nation’s top intelligence thought leaders in front of an audience of executives from some of the foremost companies involved in supporting our national homeland security efforts. Our team at Content Analyst Company is devoted to providing the technology and tools that allow intelligence analysts to quickly identify relevant, accurate, and actionable information within the glut of available intelligence data.”
