CAAT V3.10

Content Analyst Company is excited to announce our latest version of CAAT. Below is a list of some of its new capabilities.

THE INDEX BUILDER
There is a new Index Builder workflow for V3.10, as either the Index Builder integrated into the CAAT GUI, or via a substantial new library of APIs allowing you to build your own workflow. The new Index Builder is designed to make it easy to build high-quality indexes and to automate much of this process.

The new CAAT Index Builder:

1. Leads the user through a logical series of steps or workflow to identify the data source and "configure" the appropriate connectors
2. Performs a random-sample evaluation of data to find and identify any up-front anomalies (such as "empty" file folders or garbage documents)
3. Determines optimal filter settings that should be applied based on the data in the collection to be indexed (such as OCR filters, repeated content filters, etc.)
4. Analyzes data and provides access to that analysis via an API

In the majority of cases, the settings that CAAT determines automatically will prove satisfactory and yield a high quality index.

For our integration partners, the new Index Builder is fully backed by CAAT APIs, so you can build your own Index Build workflow using our design – or build-in just the features you want your users to see.

NEW TEXT DIFF FEATURE (Text or Document Compare)
A new API provides the ability to compare differences between two versions of a document. There are actually two choices, a "diffitems" and a "difftext" which will allow two ingested documents or strings of text to be compared. Partners can use TextDiff to compare any two items, making this feature useful in a number of review functions.

NEW GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE
The CAAT GUI has been completely redesigned for V3.10. Partners and users who access CAAT's capabilities from its included Graphical User Interface will appreciate the straightforward approach to the main search, categorization, clustering, and index management features of CAAT. Integration partners can evaluate new features such as the Index Builder using the GUI, and access the new Log files from the GUI. Finally, the GUI has an option to show all CAAT API calls that it makes, enabling integration partners to easily recreate any GUI workflows, such as the new Index Builder.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CAAT 3.10 RELEASE
V3.10 – like all CAAT releases – is based primarily upon input from our partners and our own field experience.

With V3.10, we sought to leverage CAAT's own intelligence during the index building process. In V3.10, item data analysis visibility has been improved, warnings about potential data problems are provided, and the process is simpler and more intuitive for all users. One of the key visions behind this release was to make this process largely automatic, to let CAAT determine the appropriate filters and settings based on the data itself, interacting with the user throughout the process.

As partners use CAAT to process ever larger collections, the ability to identify specific events within the troubleshooting logs streamlines our ability to support partners and quickly correct conditions that may affect speed and quality of indexes.

Finally, we have incorporated an entirely new framework to drive a new Graphical User Interface. This interface incorporates features such as multiple windows and work areas and more intuitive icons. It also provides direct access to new features such as the Index Builder.
